The AFC Champions League is a football competition, which brings together the best clubs on the Asian continent.
This is the Asian equivalent of the UEFA Champions League, played between European clubs.
It is organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
The first edition took place in 1967 under the name Asian Cup champions clubs and is played
between six clubs in Bangkok. Due to the vastness of the continent, it was difficult to organize a real competition where only 10 teams met in 1969.
The competition is renamed Champions League in 2003.
