The 2019 Asian Football Nations Cup is the seventeenth edition of the Asian Football Cup. This
is the second time that the United Arab Emirates is organizing this
competition, after the 1996 edition in which they finished finalists.
The 2019 Asian Cup is the first time that the competition will be extended to twenty-four teams. The Asian Cup qualifiers match the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, following the withdrawal of the AFC Challenge Cup in 2015.
Of the 47 national associations affiliated with the AFC 46 will participate in the qualifying process, the selection of Northern Mariana Islands will not participate in the tournament.
