The winner will take over from South Africa's Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, Miss Universe 2017.

The location of the election was announced on July 31, 2018 during a press conference chaired by Paula Shugart, President of the Miss Universe Organization. The election will be held on December 16, 2018 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, capital of Thailand1. The country has already hosted the election in 1992 and 2005.
