The Europa League
2017-2018 is the 47th edition of the Europa League, the second
most prestigious European Cup of European clubs. Created
by UEFA, the qualifiers of the competition are open to the football
clubs of UEFA member associations, qualified according to their good
results in the championship or national cup.
The associations
in places 1 to 51 of the UEFA 2016 ranking have 3 qualified clubs -
with the exception of Liechtenstein with only one qualified club.
The associations in places 52 to 54 have 2 qualified clubs.
The CONMEBOL
Libertadores or Copa Libertadores is a football competition created in
1960 that opposes each year the best clubs in South America. This tournament is organized by the Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol (CONMEBOL).
Until
2016, while the Libertadores was generally held between January and
July, the other big South American competition, the Copa Sudamericana,
was held between August and December.
Copa
Sudamericana is an international football competition that is played
every year between clubs in South America and CONCACAF. It is considered the South American equivalent of the Europa League.
